Quake-Proofing the Classroom
2023/05/09
Hello everyone! Kindy 3 is back this week with another awesome blog! This week is about earthquake safety! Earthquake drills aren’t uncommon, but it’s easy to get a bit too relaxed when nothing is going on. So Kindy 3 practiced to make extra sure we know what to do if an emergency happens.
Earthquakes can happen at any time without warning, so Kindy 3 was sure to stay on alert.
It was lesson time as usual until…
the pretend earthquake happened! Everyone was very responsive! Glass and falling debris can be very dangerous, so everyone was sure to make good use of the tables as protection.
Once the “all clear” was given, everyone put on their earthquake hats as an extra safety measure.
In an emergency, every second counts so it’s important to just take the nearest hat.
Another important part about an earthquake drill is to stay calm! Panicking can make a difficult situation much harder!
Everyone was able to keep calm and stay in a single-file, orderly line.
Once outside there was a headcount to make sure everyone was together. No one is left behind!
Even outside everyone was on their best manners and were great listeners.
Once the drill was finished we did a quick recap of what happened and went back to class. Everyone did an excellent job and we are so proud of them! Hopefully this is something we won’t have to do for real, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry!
Way to keep calm, Kindy 3!
