Crafts & Cookies! ☆ Kindy 1
2025/02/26
Hello everyone! Thanks for tuning in to Kindy 1's blog this week. We've been having a blast learning new things this month, and also celebrating some holidays!
We'e been learning about Hinamatsuri or "Girl's Day" during our Japanese lessons. To celebrate, we've read some stories, talked about the holiday, and we even made our very own paper dolls! We ripped origami paper to make our dolls' clothes, and we drew faces and glued on hair to make them really come to life. To make this craft, we had to practice our coloring, ripping, and gluing skills. It was a great exercise, and also so much fun!
We talked about what we would name our dolls, and we also talked about why we chose certain colors for each one.
"I chose blue and green because this one's a boy!"
"But, girls can also wear blue and green!"
"And boys can wear pink, too!"
"Yeah! I chose pink for my boy doll!"
We loved showing each other our creations at the end.
This month, we also got the special chance to celebrate Valentine's Day! We discussed how this holiday is meant for family, friends, and loved ones. We talked about how important is to appreciate the people who love us not only on Valentine's Day, but on every day! We used scissors to cut out heart-shaped cards for our Moms, Dads, brothers and sisters.
Then, we wrote down our Valentines messages, signed our names at the bottom, and used colored pencils to decorate our cards.
Besides our crafts, we also got to celebrate Valentine's Day by making some special cookies! We each dipped some heart-shaped pies into milk chocolate, and picked out which colorful sprinkles we wanted to add on top.
We made a little bit of a mess along the way, but we LOVED the end result.
It's been such a fun month, we can hardly believe it's almost over! Thanks for reading about our Kindy 1 class activities. We'll see you next time! ☺
