A Fun Fire Station Field Trip ☆ Kindy 1

Hello everyone! Kindy 1, here!

We were so excited for our field trip last week! We spent a few weeks getting ready to go.  That meant not only talking about what a Fire Station was but also how we were going to get there!

Of course, we knew we were going with Kindy 3! We spent a day practicing how to partner up and how to walk with each other.

There were no set partners, so we were free to choose whoever was closest to us. We had a good practice walk!

Then, on the day of our field trip, we made such a good line.

"Kindy 3, are you ready?"

"Yes!"

"Kindy 1, are you ready?"

"Yes we are!"

It seemed to take so long to get there, but when we did the firefighters all were waiting for us! After a quick talk from the Fire Chief, we let Kindy 3 split away while we got to see the ambulance first!

"Do you know what this is? It's an AED, and we use this if your heart needs help."

"ABC?"

Close, Kindy 1. We walk by our AED everyday at school.

"Do you want to see inside the ambulance?"

"I do!"

How lucky! We got to walk through from the side to the back!

"Do you have any questions?"

"I do!"

"Okay, what do you want to ask?"

Oh my. Everyone got so shy when they got chosen. So, Toni asked one question for us.

"Can we hear the alarm?"

"Of course!"

Yes! The firefighter lowered the volume as much as he could, and we could see the lights flash and hear the alarm even as we stood next to it!

Then we were able to switch with Kindy 3! To the Fire Engine! Another firefighter spoke to us about the fire engine, and then we got to go inside it too!

"Did everyone get to see the fire engine cabin?"

"Yes!"

"Let's take a picture! See these big steps? Can you climb up and pose for us?"

"Cheese!"

"Do you have any questions?"

"I do!"

"Okay, what do you want to ask?"

"Who?"

"Who am I?" Our firefighter shared his name with us and let us ask more questions.

"Can we climb the ladder?"

"Do you like firefighters?"

"What is your favorite fire engine?"

We were able to get so brave and try to ask so many questions!

We still had some time, so our firefighter let us see the other fire engines and cars in the garage.

"This lets us connect up to 10 hoses at once!"

"Wow!"

Toni never said fire fighters had that many hoses!

"Can we see a fire hose?"

We got to see the hose, and the nozzle too! Our firefighter told us that they can adjust the water by twisting the nozzle. It was just like our garden hose, but bigger!

"Can I see?"

"It's a little heavy, but you can touch."

We had a great time at the fire station! We said a big 'Thank you' to all of our firefighters, and another big 'Thank you' to Kindy 3 for walking with us.

Good job, Kindy 1! I'm glad we learned so much about the places in our community, and that you could see first hand our fire station. Let's have a great rest of the week together.
