Fun with Counting ☆ Small Kids

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another Small Kids adventure!
Today we are going to talk about one of our favorite activities! COUNTING!
We practice counting every day during our lessons, during playtime and even when we sing.
Let's talk about our lesson first.
We practice counting from number 1 all the way to number 10. Our teachers use flashcards and gestures to help us remember the numbers.
Let us show you what we mean.
This the action for the number 5. So whenever we see number 5 we do the flamingo action.
"Flamingooooo"
Another tool we use to count is our fingers.
Our fingers are always with us so we can use it any time we need help to count.

1...2.. buckle my shoe!
Now, let's talk about some lesson games!
Remember earlier when we told you about matching gestures with numbers.
We had to put it into practice with this game.
One at a time, our teacher called us up to the front of the class and asked us to find a number. We were given three choices so we had to think hard. Then when we found it, we had to do the action that matches with the number.
Where's number 7?
I found it!!
#7 Action - "Lady bugs lady bugs...fly away home"
Number 9? I know it well. It's one of my favorites because of the balloon action!
"Pop" (Haha i just popped the balloon)
Next Game!
Let's match these colorful number magnets to the right flashcard.
This one was a little tricky because #6 and #9 look alike, but I got the right one!
6 snowflakes...
Hmmmm...this one has 2 numbers? I think it's the number 10 but let me stop and double check.
"Thinking Thinking"
Our next challenge was even more difficult. What if we remove the flashcards with the pictures? Can we recognize the numbers then?

Welcome to Number Circles!
First, we had to tell our teachers what number it was. Then we found the matching circle and put the number in it.

And as always, at the end of the numbers section, we do a numbers song.
Below we're singing one of our favorite number songs called the "Fish Song"
1, 2, 3, 4, 5...once I caught a fish alive
Yay!! Very well done everyone!! You get some well deserved play time. And you know what, even then we practice counting.
I'm going to collect the same cars and see how many there are.
