Scoops of Shapes! Kindy 2

Hello Family and Friends, 

This month in Kindy 2, we’ve been exploring the world of shapes both 2D and 3D! Our focus has been on building a strong foundation in shape recognition and vocabulary. Learning to identify and name shapes helps Kindy 2 develop important early math skills such as classification, spatial awareness, and problem-solving. It also supports their language development as they learn to describe the world around them using new and specific words.

To put our learning into action, Kindy 2 created their own shape ice cream cones! First, they colored different 2D shapes like circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles. 

Then, they carefully labeled each shape with its correct name, practicing both writing and reading shape words. Finally, they used the shapes to build a delicious looking ice cream cone, complete with scoops and decorations made entirely from shapes!

The result was a colorful, creative, and educational art project that brought together math, language, and fine motor skills in a fun and engaging way. We’re so proud of how confident Kindy 2 has become with shape vocabulary this month!
