Meet Magic E – The Silent Spelling Hero!
2025/07/09
Hello family and friends!
This week in Kindy 2, we've been diving into the magic of words…literally! Kindy 2 has been hard at work discovering the amazing powers of the Magic E, also known as Silent E, and it's been a fun journey!
Learning how the Magic E works is an exciting and important part of growing as a reader. It gives children powerful tools to figure out new words, and it also helps them become stronger, more confident spellers. Like all new skills, it takes time and effort but with practice, encouragement, and a sprinkle of classroom magic, Kindy 2 is making incredible progress every day!
So, what is the Magic E? It's a sneaky little letter that sits silently at the end of a word!
In today’s practice, we focused on building connections between the Magic E words and their meanings. Kindy 2 traced each word carefully, paying close attention to that special “silent e” at the end. Then, they matched each word to its picture, like "bone" to a dog’s bone, "cone" to a delicious ice cream cone, and "rose" to a beautiful flower. This hands-on activity helped reinforce both how the words are spelled and what they mean. It was so rewarding to see how focused and proud the kids were as they made these connections and realized just how powerful that little Magic E can be!
Every student is working so hard, taking their time to blend sounds, form letters carefully, and speak their words with confidence. These are the foundational moments that build lifelong literacy skills, and we couldn't be prouder of their hard work.
To wrap up our day, we spent some time just having fun together, playing with toys, laughing through a game of Simon Says, and enjoying the friendships we’re building in our classroom. It’s so important to balance hard work with joyful moments, and these smiles show just how much we’re growing, learning, and having fun along the way. Take a peek below to see some pictures from our day!
Thank you so much for stopping by our classroom blog! We can’t wait to share more learning and laughter with you soon. Until next time!
