Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! ☆ Kindy 2

Kindy 2 started learning all about recycling this month. This has been a very interesting, informative, and encouraging theme for us. We started off by introducing the topic and discussing different things like "reduce, reuse, recycle" and different vocabulary that relate. We read a book called "Clean Up", which was all about littering on the beach and in the ocean and how this is really bad for our environment and the sea animals. The children were really engaged with the story and had a lot to contribute when we discussed the story afterwards.

We then had a fun activity where we gathered some items and sorted them into the different categories we learnt about such as "glass, plastics, burnables, recycling, and cans". The children each had an opportunity the pick an item and decide which category it should be disposed into. Then they got to tell us why they thought it should go there and whether the rest of the children agreed. For example, putting empty toilet paper rolls into reusable because we could make a craft with it, or a clean container to store something in. 

The children had lots of fun with this activity!!

Together as a class, we decided that we are going to try our best and work as a team, to carry this through into our daily lives and continue to make sure that we reduce, reuse, and recycle at school and at home, to help look after our environment!
