Snip, Snip, Hooray! Creating Fluffy Shape Clouds - Kindy 1

This week, our Kindy 1 friends enjoyed a fun-filled journey of learning about shapes through a series of hands-on activities!

We began by exploring and identifying different shapes, including circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, hearts, and stars. The children practised tracing the shapes on the whiteboard with markers, carefully following the lines and developing greater control of their writing tools while learning the names and features of each shape.

Next, the children focused on building their scissor confidence by cutting along straight dotted lines. They worked hard to open and close their scissors safely. 

Once they had practised their cutting skills, the children were ready for a bigger challenge! They carefully cut out circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles by following the shape outlines. Everyone showed great attention to detail as they worked to cut around each shape.

Finally, the children used glue sticks and soft cotton wool to transform their cut-out shapes into fluffy clouds. They carefully spread glue, attached the cotton, and watched their shapes come to life against a bright blue sky background.

Through these activities, the children strengthened their hand-eye coordination, shape recognition, concentration, and creativity while building confidence and independence. We are so proud of the effort, focus, and enthusiasm that everyone showed throughout this learning experience.
